About
I’m Sarah Greenfield. I set up Green Thread to give schools and businesses access to senior communications expertise and support, without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire.
I spent 13 years working inside schools, running admissions, managing websites, writing for staff, governors and parents. 30 years experience in client relationships, operations and media.
That combination is not common. It means I understand the operational reality of the organisations I work with, and I know what good communications looks like from both sides.
At Immanuel College, when I was Head of Admissions & Marketing, applications and interest increased. The school roll hit its highest point in the college’s history.
That happened in part because the communications were right.
Green Thread is not a start-up learning on the job. It’s everything I’ve learned, packaged as a flexible service for the organisations that need it most.
Based in North West London, working with schools and businesses across North, North West and Central London, Hertfordshire and beyond.
What I care about
Clarity
Thirty years of client writing has taught me that clever language is a warning sign, not a strength. If a customer has to read something twice to work out what you’re offering of what it costs, they won’t read it twice. They will go somewhere that tells them straight. I write the way I would want to be written to.
Connection
At Immanuel College, the families who applied weren’t choosing a building. They were choosing whether they trusted the people in it. Every email, every prospectus line, every social post either builds that trust or chips away at it. Parents and customers are asking the same question: can I rely on you?
Collaboration
I’ve sat inside the organisation I was communicating for, not outside it looking in. That means I know what its like when a good idea from a consultant lands on your desk and you don’t have the hours to act on it. I’d rather sit with you and work it through than hand over a document and disappear.
Practical Impact
When the school I was Head of Admissions at, Immanuel College, reached its highest pupil roll numbers in the College’s history, it wasn’t because of one big campaign. It was three or four things, done properly, in the right order. That’s still how I work. I’d rather give you three changes you’ll actually make, than give you thirty that sit in an inbox, unactioned!
What changes when communications are right
At Immanuel College, a sustained and targeted focus on Admissions communications: the website, the enquiry journey, prospectus, personalised, relatable admissions materials, event follow-up: all contributed to an increase in conversion in applications and then acceptances. The school roll reached its highest point in the college’s history.
That outcome came from treating communications as a strategic function, not an afterthought. The same approach applies to any and every school and business that is better than its current communications suggest.

She is highly professional, personable and exceptionally attentive to detail.
